The Sheriff’s Office is responsible for protecting our county, educating our citizens and providing you with information that can limit the opportunities for criminals to prey on innocent victims. In order to fulfill my responsibilities as your Sheriff, I must ask tough questions and ask you to be more aware of what is going on in your community. Sex offenders and sexual predators live throughout our county. Convicted sex offenders have completed their sentences, and convicted sex offenders often become law-abiding citizens. However, I believe that citizens still should be aware of convicted sex offenders who live in their neighborhood. As your Sheriff, I have taken an aggressive approach in monitoring sex offenders and providing information to you. In addition to FREE crime prevention training about how you can protect your family, we offer FREE resources so that you can find sex offenders in your neighborhood. We check on, monitor and arrest (when necessary) sexual predators and convicted sex offenders. However, you still need to do your part and educate yourself about how to protect yourself. TOGETHER, we can continue to make Oconee County a safe place to live, work and play. The Sheriff’s Office has a vision of building partnerships to promote a safer community. This is one of the steps we are taking to provide the safety that you deserve.
